I always feel like senior sessions come in waves for me, either I have tons in a year or next to none. I love the change of pace that comes with working with seniors. I spend most of my days chasing families and kids, so it’s a refreshing break to have a client who sits still LOL!
While Chase’s senior session was a little later in the season than most, this spring provided the most perfect sunny day for us! Fun fact: I’ve photographed mostly senior dudes in my career. Not sure how that happened to be. But I suppose it’s fitting as a boy mom myself! Working with senior guys is obviously a little different in terms of posing and work flows. I always try and find locations and prompts that make my senior fella’s feel most comfortable in front of the camera. Because after all, they’re doing this for their mama’s HAH!
When Chase’s mom booked his session we spent some time chatting about a vision for this session. Recently a store from my childhood reopened as a new upscale cigar bar. Chaloner & Co. has been a long standing staple in downtown Adrian, MI. I still vividly recall going there on the weekends with my dad, back then you’d grab your popcorn and shop magazines and comic books. And of course Dad could grab a cigar for the road. Fast forward to 2019 and this building has certainly seen a renaissance. After standing vacant for many years it was recently purchased and brought back to life in the most stunning of ways. A premiere Cigar House as truly become a gem and a destination spot for our little town!
Seeing initial pictures via social media of the location I just knew off the bat this place oozed masculine and would be the perfect spot for a senior session. It certainly did not disappoint! From the leather armchairs to the exposed brick and strong woodwork, it screamed dude swagger all over it. It was so fun getting to incorporate so much of our beautiful small downtown area for Chases session. A little reminder of home as he is preparing to shift gears and jump head first into the next chapter of life. Congrats Chase and to the entire Class of 2019!

My daughter, Haley Jones, is going to be a Senior next year and is looking to have her senior pictures taken Autumn 2021 (October preferably). We got your name from my niece, Monica Cornell because her children’s pictures always look so beautiful!!
